Keeping a copy of data matters, but recovery also depends on knowing where that copy lives, how it is restored and what needs to happen after the restore completes.
A backup that has never been restored is still an assumption.

Design for replacement
Components that can be rebuilt, replaced or rolled back predictably reduce the operational cost of failure.
The objective is not to pretend incidents can be eliminated. It is to make them understandable and reversible.
